Fear has no place in the life of the believer and the good news is, God’s Word gives us clear practical principles, that if we
diligently apply them will banish fear from our lives forever.
What does fear do to you? 1. Fear paralyses you, stopping you from growing. 2. It will cause you to make poor decisions. 3. It will kill your faith. Did you know that worry is fear? The Bible tells us that fear brings torment, the more you give in to it the more control it has over you. You can worry until it drives you crazy.
Fear actually gives place to the devil to operate freely in your mind, your thinking and then your life! You have to confront fear. You cannot simply pray it away and the good news is, the more you confront it the weaker it will get!
You have to put a guard on the gates of your soul, which are your eyes and ears. Be careful what you look at or watch and listen to. Refuse to allow the unceasing torrent of bad news, disaster and calamity (coming from the media) to fill you with fear and dread. Yes, bad things are happening, wars, the economy, extreme weather etc but keep your focus on the promises of God not what is happening around you.
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges My Name” Psalm 91:14. Don’t agree with the negative things that are happening, but agree with the Word. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:19.
You must decide to uproot the destructive spirit of fear from your life. Ask yourself: 1. What causes you to worry/fear? 2. What worries or anxieties occupy your mind? Do you have a fear of rejection? A fear you are not going to get everything you want? A fear of imperfection, that you are not good enough?
Did you know that whatever type of bondage a person is under (cigarettes, drugs, sex, food, money etc.), fear produced it, because fear brings bondage, it distorts our view of ourselves and life. You have to make the decision to refuse fear in your life, speak God’s Word and trust in His protection.
