Around the beginning of the year I saw a picture of the gym in January packed with people who had started their year with new goals and new zeal, next to it was a picture of the same gym in December empty and abandoned.
I’m one of those people who hate setting New Year resolutions, because I dread the thought of failing to achieve it. So I’d rather not set any which is a terrible way to look at it. I have learnt over time that not setting any goals, results in us staying in the same old place, being stale and stunted in growth.
There is more to learn in failing than in success, and the fear of failure should not stop you from pursuing a goal. It’s usually around this time of the year that we tend to waver in our pursuit of our target and every time we do, we discourage ourselves even more with our thoughts. One of the Bibles’ amazing heroes called David, went through the most discouraging part of his life, with no one around him to lift him up, except His Creator. He looked to God and encouraged himself in God. (1 Sam 30:6)
“God is your number one supporter and cares about your dreams and goals no matter how small.” So if we fail we don’t have to give up and wait till January 2016 to set new goals. We get back up and move on, because every day is a brand new start. We continue and push through, not letting any thoughts get us down, because you would rather try and achieve your goals than not try at all.
To those who have set a goal, continue and run with abandonment after that goal with all your heart, give it your best and to those of you who haven’t, well, what are you waiting for?
